CANCellation policy.
Sometimes life gets in the way and cancelling or rescheduling an appointment is unavoidable. However, unlike brief medical appointments, it is impracticable to fill a psychology appointment that runs for 50 minutes at short notice. Psychologists have a responsibility to provide effective and timely care to their clients, which requires careful scheduling and allocation of resources. When a client schedules an appointment, it reserves a dedicated time slot that is specifically set aside for them.
We are a small private practice, therefore if a client cancels or reschedules late or does not arrive for their scheduled appointment, the psychologist loses income. Cancellation fees are necessary because when clients cancel without sufficient notice, it not only disrupts the psychologist's schedule but also prevents other clients from accessing those time slots.
By implementing cancellation fees, psychologists can uphold their ethical responsibility to provide quality care, manage their practice effectively, and maintain fair compensation for their expertise and time.
Please note that cancellation fees cannot be charged to insurance companies or claimed through Medicare, and you will be personally responsible for any cancellation fees incurred. We cannot guarantee that a replacement appointment will be available at short notice.
We kindly ask that requests for cancellation or rescheduling be made at least two business days before the scheduled appointment. Cancellations that occur within 48 hours of the appointment will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellation/non-attendance on the day of the scheduled appointment will incur the full fee.
